Minutes Of The Meeting
July 13, 2004
- The meeting was called to order at 6:30
pm, by President Shelia Barney, who thanked the attendees and announced that
Mrs. Bozeman who was to speak on “democracy Works” had to cancel.
- Mr. Ludwig Spinelli, CE of the Bridgeport
Community Health Center addressed the group about the South End Health
Center project on a plot that faces Washington Blvd and runs east to Lipton
Place. Mr. Spinelli continues:

- We are all set to go as soon as the
state comes in with the Money needed
- The land is already paid for at the price of $666,000.
- We need $2.7 million dollars to complete the facility
- In full operation, the center will offer a variety of services including
mental health, gym, medical testing and much more.
- The center will be staffed with about 20 workers.
- We will offer service at the Centre Addison Center and at Stamford
Hospital as well.
- Mr. Spinelli fielded a few questions and repeated “we are all set to go”

- Open discussion with the remaining time, the
President opened the floor for questions and comments:

- Mr. J. Caramon expressed concern that O&G (the cement company on Mill River
bordering Berley Street) is still causing much noise and dust pollution in the
area. He asked if anything could be done.
- Repairs are being made to the sidewalks bordering the Lathon Wider Center –
Woodland Avenue side.
- Mr. McCain mentioned that we are coming up to the 40th year of the CTE program
functioning in the South End. He suggested a community festival to celebrate.
- Illegal dumping was brought up – with a great deal of input as to who does it
and how the dumping is cleared up. There was general agreement that the south
end is looking better as there is less dumping.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 with this announcement “There will be NO
AUGUST MEETING. See you in September.”
