NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY
OF DOCUMENTS AND PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD REGARDING BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP
ACTIVITIES AT 1 DOCK STREET AND 114 MANHATTAN STREET The City of Stamford announces the availability of the Draft Analyses of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) relating to the planned remediation activities at 1 Dock Street and 114 Manhattan Street. The City of Stamford has received grant funds totaling $225,500 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for cleanup of Brownfields located at 1 Dock and 114 Manhattan Street. In accordance with EPA regulations, the draft ABCAs, entitled Remedial Alternatives Feasibility Analysis, are now available for public review and comment. The documents may be viewed at the Engineering Bureau at the Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Boulevard, 7th Floor, Stamford, CT, 06904, during normal business hours (8:30 am – 4:30 pm weekdays). The draft ABCA will also be available at the South End branch of the Ferguson Library at 34 Woodland Avenue during library hours. Documents have been posted to the City’s website at http://www.ci.stamford.ct.us/Engineering/UrbanTransitway/UTDocuments.htm. The public comment period is from April 3 to May 3, 2006. In conjunction with the comment period, a public meeting will be held to discuss the ABCAs and the proposed cleanup activities. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 6:30 pm at the Lathon Wider Community Center at 34 Woodland Avenue. Written statements or exhibits in place of, or in addition to, oral statements made at the Public Meeting may be mailed or delivered to the Grants Office, 888 Washington Boulevard, Stamford, CT 06901. The City will accept comments for discussion at the Public Meeting until 4:00 pm, April 13, 2006. Such written comments or exhibits must be reproducible in black and white and on paper not to exceed 8˝” x 11" in size. These written statements or exhibits will be made part of the Public Information Meeting minutes and will be considered equivalent of oral statements. The City of Stamford staff will be available prior to and after the Public Information Meeting to answer questions regarding the project. All persons interested are welcome to attend this Public Information Meeting. The City will continue to accept all other written comments until 4:00 pm May 3, 2006.
